We keep cans of tomato juice on had for skunked dogs, they get immediate shower and tomato juice shampoo followed by dog shampoo, even then they smell for at least a year after shunking.

I remember many many years ago, I was living and working in rural NE Missouri. Car was a great old Olds Cutlass, and it was a beautiful summer evening, windows down on a late night drive.

Going down a dark country road I noticed that there was something ‘shambling’ along the road, and too my horror I realized that it was a SKUNK. I swerved to miss it, and THUNK!

His last act, totally empty that scent gland onto the front wheel of my car. It was ‘intense’
