That depends actually. If enough of his supporters raise a stink violently after a loss (or a win), that could potentially land him in hot water for at least incitement to rebellion. But if it can be proven that a substantial part of the financial and other aid came from Vlad & the Kremlin Crew, that could potentially open up a (incitement to) treason charge.

So, it all depends on how good the puppet and the puppet masters combined are at operational secuirty IMO.
