The whole environmental-zone concept in Europe is good: many countries are phasing out older classes of engines from city centers. The trouble is that it’s completely uncoordinated and difficult for travelers from other countries to figure out. If you want to drive around Western Europe cities in different countries (when we were allowed to do that), you need a German windshield sticker and a different French windshield sticker and a different Belgian license plate registration and so on. This is something that the EU needs to harmonize.

Yes, yes, take the train. I’m a big fan of trains, but it’s not always possible or reasonable.
