re: #161 William Barnett-Lewis

Now excuse me, I’ll still fly the flag & such as a lefty vet as I concern myself with the reality of those who aren’t ever coming back from that last patrol and not worry about what some talking head, left or right, has to say about it.

This. I woke up this morning thinking about my dad and all the other men in my family who’ve put their lives on the line for this country going back to the Civil War. I thought about the horrific injuries suffered by so many in the recent wars in Iraq & Afghanistan, and Vice President Biden’s wonderful words last week to those who have lost loved ones in the military. I wondered if maybe there was some small way to show appreciation today—maybe make a Page or send out some tweets.

Then I come here, and what do I find? The usual morning sniping. How pathetic that on the one day each year specifically reserved for remembering & honoring our military dead, some people see fit to seize it as yet another opportunity for shooting little poisonous partisan arrows at their fellow Americans. For what purpose? Just because they can? This day isn’t about that bullshit. Grow up. Show some respect.

Thank you, William Barnett-Lewis, for your service and for your wise words.
