Good question. No one really knows for sure, but I’ll try to find a ballpark number…

Using Google in French, all I could find was an approximate 500,000 in 2008, for a French population of about 65 million. There may be more or there may be less - by definition, an illegal immigrant is someone who more or less stays under the radar here. I’ll keep looking and see what I can find.
