Worthless, but allowed.

As I saw mentioned elsewhere here today, it really only matters if the protesters are 100% pure in their non-violence and the bad guys beat them up anyway. March 7, 1965 for example.

“you say you want a revolution, well… “

Setting aside the “worthless” component of that statement for a moment:

Bluntly and brutally, those inclined to thuggish authoritarian action have learned the lesson about “it only matter if they’re 100% pure in their non-violence” very, very well. So well they have a fully fleshed-out system of excuses for acts of brutality. And not just cops—bodyguards, private security, too—the guys who want hit something know exactly what to say to justify their violence.

Pepper spray and tasers have made this worse, since they’re technically “non-lethal”—which means you finds vicious (and cowardly!) dumb-asses spam-using them with minimal or no provocation.

Edited to add: Stepped away for a moment there and a bunch of stuff changed in the conversation. While I won’t delete this comment, I’m stressing that I’m not really disagreeing with anyone
