Yes, I think he’s both that clever and that disturbed to do this.

The problem is he’s SO fucking paranoid that he’s never going to believe his cabinet is behind him. Expect frequent purges, dysfunctional backstabbing and infighting within his administration as individual cabinet picks attempt to drive wedges between their perceived rivals and Trump.
