This looks awful, but it’s the first sensible response to Kremlingate I’ve seen out of this administration. Honest answers are impossible because they are guilty, and dishonest answers will cause trouble when they are exposed as lies.

It is the presidential* version of don’t talk to the cops, ever.

Oh, of course it’s a sensible response. This WH has released TONS of ‘sensible responses’. The problem is, the next morning they’re always undone by You Know Who.

At least twice, the WH has said ‘This is our last response on this’, only to have Trump send people out to the press, because the press didn’t just stop reporting on it. The same will be true here. Trump CAN’T NOT RESPOND. He doesn’t have the capacity to shut up and let somebody else talk for him, especially if doing so doesn’t make it all go away.
