You can literally blame (George) Romney for the death of Hudson. He did away with these awesome hood ornaments too.

Hudsonuts (that’s what we call ourselves) are divided over the “Hash” years, when AMC ditched the bathtub design in favor of the more conventional boxy body of the Nash. To be fair, the unibody design of the bathtub Hudsons was a pain to retool, but IMO the Hash models were only meh.
