Honestly, I wish that was how it worked with every bill: No amendments, no tack-ons, no riders. If you want something passed, put it forward as its own bill and let it either stand or fall based upon its merits. If it’s a choice between increasing the amount of paperwork, versus seeing otherwise good bills dissolve into pissing matches over how an otherwise good bill is now “bad” because an amendment that one party or the other doesn’t agree with, then I’ll take the former. Paper is cheaper than lives.
