I can tell you for certain that a number of members of my extended family have decided to delay having children - or not have them altogether - because of the expenses of living and that they feel both spouses need to work in order to pay off student loan debts and afford a house and vehicles that are well-maintained.

One thing they don’t mention is that, what with climate change and all, is it really such a great time to be adding humans? Fewer humans would burn less fossil fuel, plus fresh water and food may become more limited as weather changes.
