When I was in 9th grade, the “Science” teacher was talking one day about how cars used to be built better and how back in the day he’d seen a car hit a guardrail dead on at 50 mph and get barely a scratch.

I got in trouble because I couldn’t convincingly pretend to believe him.

It’s true. I used to drive a 64 Cadillac, and someone completely destroyed their car rear-ending me. My bumper was bent a little. The problem with the old cars is they did nothing to protect the passenger. The car would come through pretty well, but the people in it would take the full impact of the collision.
