Gulls do make it inland naturally. California gulls breed at Mono Lake, and they apparently hung around the Great Salt Lake in enough numbers to be Utah’s state bird. (They helped eat crickets during a locust plague early in the Mormon presence there.)

But yeah, the numbers are way beyond natural in a lot of places.

Of course, having a garbage dump in the area automatically makes them native wildlife.
