And 150,000 or so oil workers who will be out of work because of the drilling moratorium. Not to mention the effect globally as the oil price reacts to the interruption in new supply.
Top Kill didn’t work, and BP knew it wouldn’t work three hours after they started. There’s no way to pump enough mud to stem a 16,000 PSI gusher…they can slow it down, a little, and reduce the hydrocarbon portion, but they’re replacing that portion with a toxic mix of chemicals that aren’t any better for the gulf than the oil is.
