I’ve never once suggested that you’re slurring anyone. I just can’t stand the term. It’s offensive to me. I think it’s wrong to tar a child with the sins of their parents. That’s all.

I guess all this immigration stuff just makes me more sensitive and prickly. My father was a naturalized citizen from Mexico, my mom a Mexican-American from here in the States. I didn’t learn English until I was almost 4 years old. I don’t think I’ve ever been more aware of my background since all that crap in Arizona started recently. All this rhetoric from people like Rand Paul makes me nervous and uneasy, and I can’t help but wonder where it all ends.
