And yet, a lot of people who purport to believe in God do a lot of sinning. And I’m not talking about a brief slip-up. I mean embezzling over a period of years, carrying on affairs over time, etc. You’d think if they really believed, they’d straighten up and fly right. Forgiveness for sins is great, but I think you are supposed to actually repent and not just be gaming the system.

We’re awesome at rationalizing. The “I’ll just confess/repent on my deathbed and still go to heaven” excuse makes it pretty easy to live a shitty life while actually believing.

It’s hard for me to imagine how anyone can fully buy into any of the god in the sky religions though, so who knows?
