Yeah…..I dimly remember some of his TV appearances in the 1980’s and early ’90s and while he was insufferable even back then (I went back and double-checked earlier this year), he was quite coherent.

I think something did happen…..something that impaired him on the cognitive level. But what that was, I have no idea.
