We already had enough trouble over the keeping or firing of the previous admins appointees with every new presidency, we don’t also need controversy over the “changing of the guard” at the SCOTUS as well.

Justices are appointed for life, reducing the number of Justices would only have an effect on the death or retirement of the next one. It’s a masturbatory fantasy to believe they could just be abolished and then reestablished with new nominees.
