Gov. Hochul will call a special election to fill the seat.

It narrows the GOP majority, which means even fewer extremists in the GOP can shut things down in a snit.

All it took was a dozen federal charges and an ethics investigation - by his own (themselves corrupt) party members, mind you - that hinted at even more. Or as Republicans call it, Tuesday.
