Well, the company decided that they need to make more money, because they are changing licenses on newer versions the be very restrictive. I read an article where a developer was annoyed by this with good reason because the company benefited from non-company development and testing.

Well, the CEO is now annoyed that the Linux community is planning on doing further development on a fork. And while Microsoft has negotiated an agreement with the company, Amazon and RedHat have decided to back the fork.
