So all of us lizards could “pool together” our “resources” and pick our own plan. We aren’t related, don’t live in the same community, different ages, etc. Sounds like fun. And Freedom.

Pool together resources in a marketplace. Wait. That’s exactly what the ACA did - by creating a market that didn’t exist, relying on private/publicly owned insurers that offer their own products that comply with uniform national baseline rules.

Oh, he wants a return to the individual market, where rates were incredibly high and deterred people from seeking/obtaining insurance.

They also incentivize the wrong groups - by focusing on age, and not income level. By giving young no incentive to get insurance, your pool of insureds will skew to the old/infirm, and those more likely to use medical care. That would create the very death spiral that the right wing claimed would happen with the ACA - but hasn’t.
