My parents had Brighthouse. $160/month for cable/phone/intertubes. Both had cell phones. Called Brighthouse and asked about the price if they dropped the phone line. $99. 60 bucks for a phone? I think not.

Yeah, I ran into a lot of those folks, ones who either had no landline or kept one just to have a home phone number for various applications/forms/etc. Don’t remember the last time I used our home phone for anything. I don’t even really list it on applications anymore, just put my cellphone number as my primary. We’ve even turned off the ringer, just because every charity and hard-luck case was calling us at all hours of the night.
