perhaps it is true, but it is something that they should have brought up before the votes were cast.

That’s why they’re demanding an investigation, because they claim there’s no way this guy who spent no money on campaigning could have pulled together enough votes to beat the establishment candidate. That this totally unknown candidate’s win is proof that the GOP stuffed the ballot box and got him on the ticket, knowing he’ll either fail to beat DeMint or he’ll be off the ticket/out of office if he gets convicted on the felony charge.
