I canāt figure Reagan out because I donāt know too much about the man but I think he was a cynic beneath the sunny optimism that he liked to portray. He was fine with the New Deal for a long time but he started drifting right around the time the Dems started championing the idea that the promise of the New Deal should be for all people. Now I donāt think his rightward move was exclusively racially based but you canāt tell me that Reagan didnāt have huge racial blinders.

itās that in 1954 he signed an 8-year contract with Westinghouse. Besides hosting GE Theater on TV, he also spent 3 months a year touring the country with Westinghouse and GE execs, and they worked on him hard.
