I find these questions to be very fascinating, and I find it very telling that the “Free Market Will Solve Everything” zombies rarely ever speak about how that played out in the transformation countries of the former Second World.
Maybe a free market won’t “solve everything,” but starting a country off as a free market meritocracy under the rule of law does seem to work a little better in the long run than Communism. No system is perfect but some are a bit better than others.
