How come the Christian God so often punishes the shit out of Red states?

God only punishes the wicked. The devil torments the true believer. And you can tell which side you are on because if you believe in your heart you are following Jesus, then God would be showing favor on you except for the Devil.

The fact that an omnipotent being allows a lesser one to torment His followers just shows how benevolent He is.
