The Republican party, as it now stands (controlled by extremists and freaks) should be wiped off the face of the world. Does that mean I want to exterminate all Republicans (including my family)? No. It means I find their politics disagreeable and would like to see it gone.

Specious analogy. Not only it ignores a difference between a party and a state, it also completely ignores history.
