I never thought I’d say this but I’m in favor of that. McConnell’s sick games with Garland and Kavanaugh have me very angry and what should be a slim center-liberal majority has instead become the most conservative court since what FDR dealt with his first term.

Back when Andrew Jackson was President, liberals in Congress passed a law to reduce the size of the court, to prevent Jackson from appointing justices during his term. The court shrank from 10 to 8.

After he was gone, the Judiciary Act of 1869 added one justice to end deadlocks of 4-4 on the court. All attempts at court-packing have since been stopped before they could occur (the last attempt was FDR).
