The voice recording is only part of the black box. It also records flight telemetry and instrument commands.

The Airbus A320 has two discrete recorders; the cockpit voice recorder and the flight data recorder. According to the latest report, the flight data recorder has been recovered but its memory card is missing for as yet unknown reasons. If the card is recovered, the information on it will likely provide the cause of the crash. It will either corroborate the co-pilot’s causing it or point to something else.

I won’t even hazard a guess as to what happened because there are so many things that could have gone wrong.
