In the past I’ve kept guns in conditions that I now consider to be really stupid, but I’ve never, ever, stored them with a round in the goddamned chamber. That’s just begging for regret.

If that extra second it takes you to chamber a round is the difference between you living and dying then you’re fucked anyway. There is no plausibly realistic scenario faced by any civilian anywhere that justifies that shit.
