Well then you know what? I misread your motives. Because those things mean a livelihood for those merchants. Those things are the beds people sleep in, the clothes they wear, and the pots and pans they cook their meals in. Those things mean a lot to those people and not out of some status seeking bullshit but for survival.

They can still get more “things.” Livelihoods can be rebuilt, however painfully slow. Lives themselves cannot be replaced.
