I hear you. I just want to keep my money. Used to be that if you started an IRA in your 20s you’d have close to a million in retirement age. Instead we get FDRs social security in which we pay well over 2 grand per annum. For what? You still have to deal with the bureaucrats over the phone and be subject to the Federal rules. That’s how the DNC retirement plan works.
