Here’s the thing and why I’m generally optimistic about long term gains. The Democratic Party is gaining in parts of the population that are growing. The few parts that the GOP is are declining. For every angry white working class voter that Trump may get, there are more people of diverse backgrounds i.e. Muslim, Hispanic, etc that Clinton and the Democratic Party will pick up.

If they’re allowed to vote. Voter suppression and intimidation in Republican-run states is going to be positively frenzied this time. Enough for the general public to finally notice? Who knows?
