McCain drove me batty with his on-again/off-again maverickyness, and the fact that he gave Sarah Palin a national platform. But I always respected his service. Now, I’m thinking about how so many folks, on the left and the right, are so saddened by his passing. And I think about how when Trump dies, there will be nothing even remotely like this outpouring of love and respect.

When Trump goes, there will be savages howling in the night and beating clubs on hollow logs and on anyone Trump told them to hate.
