In most cases, the sides agree on certain facts, so that testimony/evidence is not needed from witnesses so as to speed the trial along.

By refusing to do this here, Trump again opened the door to ridicule and questionable judgment as the Daniels testimony supports the reason why payment was needed in the first place.
