She’s a “Democrat”. My guess is that a bunch of Republicans all lined up to run for office so she ran as a Democrat to have an easier chance of winning.’

Happens all over the south, especially here in Texas.

She got elected because her mom was county clerk before her. That elected office has been in the family for decades.
