Many think it was a bad idea. Keep one thing in mind though. It was GM and Chrysler that came begging for the bailout to the federal government. That would be management.

They, and the rest of us, would have been better off if they were allowed to file bankruptcy without the bailouts. They filed anyway so if anyone suggests the money was meant to head off bankruptcy that’s false on its face. GM and Chrysler are going to have this same problem 30 years from now because the underlying issues were never addressed but paid off by taxpayers.
