I think they can find the money to hold a wedding bash. The last one was what, 30 years ago? And how much did it help their economy? I know pubs here were packed at 5am. (drinks and bangers!!!)

Seems like the latest excuse for everything regarding budgets these days is “well, spending money on that really wouldn’t make a difference anyway.” It’s about priorities. It’s also about useless social and cultural rituals. A royal wedding counts as either of those.
