To be fair, the bill labels single parenthood a “contributing factor” to child abuse, and given that children in a single parent household are more likely to be abused, that argument has some validity. But it should have included citations making that case and a disclaimer making clear that ‘non-marital parenthood’ is not in and of itself child abuse. As it is, it can be misread far too easily.
