re: #62 RealityBasedSteve

But what is the definition of “Conservative” in terms of Canadian politics? I can’t imagine that it’s anything like here in the US. I would imagine that it’s not unlike a moderate Democrat here.

Thanks,

RBS

Harper is the new Canadian conservative - religious, anti-science, manipulative and dishonest. His government want to go the way of the US conservatives but is held back by the Canadian traditional position which is usually far more centrist that the US. He’s muzzled our scientists so communication of research into CC/Oil production/economy is biased toward his preconceived ideas.

Harper and his cronies are hard right trying to work in a centrist manner.

In Sask, the Saskatchewan party promised when they first came to power they wouldn’t privatize the crown corporations. They haven’t. However they’ve pulled more funds from them and reduced the number of employees to a point where service sucks. I suspect in the near future they’ll use the diminished capability of our crown corps as an excuse to privatize them.

They have privatized much of the related industries so that it costs the gov’t far more to implement their programs.
