Actually, D_F is right, here: I’ll freely admit to being virtually innumerate when it comes to statistics, but even I know that to get a clearer idea of an average for aggregated numbers (like the polls in #564), one should lop off the outliers on the high and low ends to account for possible errors/skewing.

That said, when I did that to the polls numbers above, it still comes out to Hillary Clinton +7.1 . Good news for John McCain!

That doesn’t mean the poll is “skewed”. It may be an outlier just as last months same poll that had Trump ahead by 2 probably was. But outliers are sometimes correct.
And yes, an average of polls is the best bet overall.
