re: #709 Obdicut

Why should they interview creationists for the story in the first place, though? Why is what creationists are saying newsworthy?

Should the reporter note that nothing the creationists claim is in any way backed up by any facts?

Right now, creationists would be interviewed because they are making inroads into local schools through various means, as we’ve seen here in Louisiana and in Texas.

In our local paper, stories with any sort of controversy attached end up being written about in the editorial pages, as well as in the news pages.

As I said, I don’t care to argue this, and I don’t care to get into any sort of “well, what about THIS? How should they handle THIS?” games.

I know what I learned, and I know how these things were discussed and talked about in my home growing up, by a person who was a reporter, an editor, and who also wrote investigative pieces for the paper he worked for. But I obviously somehow missed - something, and am wrong, and so let’s let that be the end of it.
