There are many creationists with PhDs in relevant fields. E.g. geologist Andrew Snelling, who is a YEC. Prima facie he is an expert on geology, yet he will tell you Earth is 6000 y.o. Selection of experts can be biased too.

And all of those FACTS would be reported, and people would be left to form their own OPINIONS. There is no need for a reporter to say, “Andrew Snelling is a kook”. Which is an editorial opinion, and one I agree with, but the reporter should not make that implication in his story.
