The pundits love to gush over how Trump is not a “normal politician” and they are certainly right in one way: Any self-respecting politician accused of even a fraction of what Trump stands (credibly) accused of would have hung it up ages ago. The sexual assault rulings alone would have been the Kiss of Death. But yet he keeps puttering along, which is probably the most damning indictment of the idea that the process is about selecting those best-suited for the job and the most powerful endorsement that it is simply a popularity contest.

He’s in love with the revenue (grifting) stream.

And there’s the long odds hope he can self pardon
