I think that’s a big part of it though not the full story. The moneybags teabagging the tea party don’t care one whit about the color of the D standing in the way of their looting the government.

They’ll let the anxiety brew and stew, sure. Doesn’t take a lot of effort on their part, that’s for sure.

The moneybags don’t care, but the rank and file of the TPers do. That is their primary motivation and always has been. The Confederates never died, they just stopped saying ni**er in public. These are the same people who are always trying to rip the country apart and burn it down any time their perception of what the social and racial order of the country should be is being threatened. Yes the rich want to protect their money, but TPers, like everyone else, don’t have any money. It’s race and social hierarchy. Always has been and always will be.
