I took a few geology courses at UW so I remember a bit. I wish I had chosen that as a major instead of journalism.

I grew up in the New Madrid area. The last quakes there were worst than anything in California’s history. Church bells in Boston were rung by the force.

Yup; I’m within the zone for New Madrid, even though I’m in middle Illinois. The big concern there is what happens when the next “big one” comes and all those cities that built up on the Ohio River start to go *into* the river.
