Exactly. There is no actual measurements from thermometers prior to cir. 1850, that is indisputable. Thus we need tree rings from a few trees on the Yamal Peninsular and other such ‘temperature reconstructions’ from things like ice cores, again, very regional. There is no global historical temperature proxy, only regional ones, and the tree rings have been falsified which is why they ‘used the trick to hide the decline’ by interpolating real reading when the tree rings showed a decline after 1960. On one chart they simply ended the proxy at 1960 and hid that by covering it with another line.
