That was Granny, and only to feed the chickens. Because my cousin had Japanese bantam cocks in the yard, and they would attack her while she gathered eggs. Odd fact: she never laced them.

BTW, all those bantam roosters ended up in stewpots. And the combat boots (my uncle’s from WW2) are still in the “shed” outside the chicken yard.
