The funny part was, there is a town named Gardenia in the region where we live, he just never noticed. My mom told him if he got good grades for the rest of the school year, we would tell him what the word meant. We would actually catch him muttering Gardenia when something pissed him off, with me threatening to tell mom and mom pulling “I better never hear you say that again”. Of course, he was 11 at the time and this was before the internet.

The day we told him was one of the funniest moments in my life.
