I’ve been trying to figure out the geopolitics of this compared to the fight against ISIL in Iraq, other than the fact that Yemen is a gulf state and while the Houthis say this is a “revolution”, neighboring states, the UN and others call it a “coup d’tat”. And how does AQAP figure into the entire thing as well. Did their activities lay the ground work for this Houthi takeover?

At any rate, things certainly appear to be heating up everywhere in the ME. And it doesn’t seem to me that the Saudi sheiks have done very much to alleviate conditions for the vast majority of people while they wish to control many of the resources in the ME. I suppose that’s “royalty” for you.
